Bistre Color
One of the oldest brown pigments in Western painting. Bistre was made from beech wood soot dissolved in water, and Rembrandt used it for ink drawings. The Bistre color hex code (#3d2b1f) is a dark smoky brown with enough warmth to stay out of black territory. It works well in moody hero sections, leather-bound designs, and anything going for an “old world” feel.
