   International Klein Blue Color

   Yves Klein filed a Soleau envelope with France’s INPI on 19 May 1960, date-stamping his ultramarine formula (not quite a patent, more like a claim of paternity). Working with color merchant Édouard Adam, Klein suspended raw pigment in a synthetic Rhône-Poulenc resin called Rhodopas M so the powder kept its full matte intensity. International Klein blue color (#002fa6) still delivers the deep, meditative pull Klein believed opened onto the infinite.

   International Blue Color

   This is the canonical hex for International Klein Blue, the ultramarine Yves Klein registered in 1960 after working out a matte resin binder with paint dealer Edouard Adam. Klein wanted the raw pigment’s glow preserved rather than dulled by oil. It remains one of the few colors an artist can reasonably claim to have invented.
