YInMn Blue Color – #265ef7: Codes and Complete Breakdown

Published on
YInMn Blue was discovered by accident in 2009 by chemist Mas Subramanian and graduate student Andrew Smith at Oregon State University, who pulled a brilliant blue from a furnace heated to nearly 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. Named for its yttrium, indium, and manganese content, it was the first new inorganic blue pigment since cobalt in 1802 and inspired Crayola’s Bluetiful crayon. The YInMn Blue color is prized because it is non-toxic, fade-resistant, and reflects heat.
